It had to be the best Xmas and New Year ever but I was sad when it was over. I met Svetlana on the website last June and we communicated every day. It took only a short time to find out our feelings for each other and how much we had in common.

Even though not meeting in the flesh it seemed like we were together always. We became boyfriend and girlfriend with an understanding of love, friendship and loyalty to each other. We shared the same sense of innocent humour and I was certain that this was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. From numerous letters and photos sent to her we eventually decided to get together over the Xmas period and New Year. I met her at the airport on 28th December and what a surprise I got when I saw her.

The photos of her were unbelievable but she looked even better. I will never forget her smile and first kiss she gave me as I put my arms around her. I thought to myself "Happy Xmas you lucky boy". Well it was as if we known each other for years, we talked together and laughed a lot. I knew this was going to be the first of many meetings and I was eager to make this girl my own. I introduced her to my family and she seemed to fit in well with everyone, my mother took a shine to her straight away.

I left her with her on New Years Eve with my mother while I had some business to attend to. This business was to buy an engagement ring from the jewelers in the town centre. I looked and selected a gold single diamond ring from the tray, a little expensive but I did not care about the cost – she was worth much more. I felt a fool when asked the size by the sales assistant. I had to make a decision and selected a small size from what I remembered about her fingers, long but thin. Anyway, New Years Eve arrived and midnight came. As we celebrated counting the clock down to the start of the New Year I got down on one knee and proposed to her. I never saw eyes sparkle so much and her smile could brighten up the darkest of rooms. She said "Yes, I will" and I placed the ring on her finger, a little big but she never complained. Now I am here and she is back in Russia and all we can do is talk about our next meeting in March in Russia before her return in the summer when we plan to marry.
